In the Philippines “scatter game” has stopped meaning one game and
started meaning a whole category. It is what players call a slot — because the symbol everyone
watches for is the scatter, the one that pays wherever it lands and opens the free
games. Ask for a scatter game and you are asking for a slot with that feature.

The other half of the question is what happened to them. Until August 2025 the quickest route to
one was a tile inside a wallet app. That route closed. The games did not go anywhere; the shortcut
did, and this page covers both — what the symbol actually does, which of the most-searched
titles really carry it, and what the newer Super Scatter versions added.

What a Scatter Symbol Actually Does

An ordinary slot symbol only pays when it lands in a particular arrangement — along a
payline, or in enough adjacent reels to complete a “ways” win. Position is everything.
A scatter ignores that rule and does two separate jobs.

• It pays from anywhere on the grid. Three scatters scattered across three
  different reels, at three different heights, still count as three scatters.
• It triggers the free games. This is the part players are actually chasing. A
  set number of scatters landing in one spin opens a round of free spins, usually with a better
  multiplier rule than the base game.

The trigger count is set by the game, not by a general rule, and the studios publish it.
JILI’s own information page for Super Ace Deluxe states it in one line:
“3 Scatters will give you 10 free games”, on a 4×5 grid with 1,024 ways
and eliminations accumulating a multiplier up to 20 times. Pragmatic Play’s page for
Gates of Olympus sets a different bar: four or more scatter symbols
trigger the bonus game, and it awards 15 free spins, with multiplier symbols worth
up to 500x landing in both the base game and the free spins. Pragmatic publishes
an RTP of 96.50% for that game; JILI does not publish an RTP figure at all.

Super Scatter: What the Newer Versions Added

Gates of Olympus Super Scatter, released by Pragmatic Play in April 2025, is
where the phrase comes from, and it is a genuinely different rule rather than a rename. The ordinary
scatter still triggers the bonus round at four or more. On top of that, a second symbol — the
Super Scatter — pays a fixed multiple of the stake if it lands while the feature is
being triggered, and the amounts escalate sharply.

The base game is a cluster game rather than a payline game: 8 to 30 matching symbols
anywhere on the grid make a win, and multiplier symbols worth up to 500x can land on any
spin or tumble, adding together when more than one appears. Those are the studio’s published
figures, and they are the ceiling rather than the expectation — a 50,000x outcome needs four
Super Scatters on the one spin that also triggers the feature.

Which “Scatter Games” Actually Have a Scatter

This is where the category name gets loose. Several of the titles most often called scatter games
in the Philippines have no free-game feature at all on the studio’s own spec
sheet. The table below is taken from JILI’s game information pages, which list each
game’s special features, maximum win, volatility band and line count.

Two things fall out of that. The original Fortune Gems and Money Coming are not scatter
games in the mechanical sense — they are a five-line multiplier game and a one-line
wheel game respectively, and neither lists a scatter-triggered free round. Their sequels are a
different matter: Fortune Gems 2 added a Lucky Wheel that scatter symbols trigger, so the answer
changes with the number after the name. And the 375x ceiling on
Fortune Gems sits a long way below the 10,000x that the Super Ace family carries, on a game

Are Scatter Games Still in GCash or Maya?

No, and that is the answer to the question most people are really asking. On
16 August 2025 the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas instructed every institution it
supervises to remove in-app gambling access within 48 hours. GCash switched off the gaming tiles
inside GLife that evening and Maya disabled its Games feature at
8:00 p.m. the same day. The suspension is still the operative rule, and it runs until the BSP
finalises its policy on online gambling payment services.

What was removed was the link inside the app, not the wallet’s ability to move money. Both
wallets still work as payment methods at sites that list them. The full reading of the memorandum,

Why a “Scatter Meter” Cannot Tell You Anything

A lot of what is written about scatter games promises a pattern: a meter that fills, a time of
day that pays, a number of spins after which the free games are “due”. None of that
describes how the games work, and it is worth understanding why rather than simply being told.

• Every spin is drawn independently. The outcome is produced by a random number
  generator at the moment you press the button. The machine holds no memory of the last hundred spins,
  so nothing accumulates between them.
• RTP is a long-run average, not a schedule. Pragmatic’s published 96.50%
  for Gates of Olympus is measured across many millions of simulated spins. It says nothing about the
  next hundred, and it is not a promise about any session.
• Volatility describes spread, not timing. A low-to-medium band means wins arrive
  in a narrower range of sizes. It does not mean they arrive on a cycle.
• A maximum win is a ceiling. 10,000x on Super Ace and 50,000x on Gates of Olympus
  Super Scatter are the largest results the maths allows, not a target anyone should plan around.

Anything offering to read the state of a game from outside it is describing something the game
does not have. The honest version of the same advice is duller and more useful: decide the amount
before you open the game, and treat it as spent.

Where These Games Are Played Now

With the in-app route closed, a scatter game is reached the ordinary way — at a casino site
that carries the studio, funded by a wallet or card from the cashier. Two of the operators covered
here publish a Philippine e-wallet by name in that cashier, with figures rather than a vague
“e-wallets accepted”.
